Oregon's bowhunter education teaches bowhunters the fundamentals of safe and responsible archery hunting and a respect for the environment in which they hunt. Students are required to first complete the online Bowhunter Education course to attend this ODFW BHED field day. https://www.bowhunter-ed.com/oregon/

Students will be required to shoot their own bow and arrows at class (No Broadheads). Walk through 3D hunting scenarios to better understand making ethical and successful decisions in the field. Test & shoot to qualify.

Note: Youth under the age of 9 may struggle with the course material and may not have the physical strength needed to safely handle a bow during a Field Day.

Instructions for Parents and Guardians of Minors

The minor's parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the required Legal Release from Liability and Firearms release forms.

How to register your child:

Open the profile dropdown at the top of your screen.
Click “View This Page As…”
Select your child’s managed account.
Register for the class.

If you don’t see “View This Page As…”, you need to create a managed account first by selecting “Managed Relationships” under your profile menu and clicking Create. For help, call ODFW at (503) 947-6101.

What To Bring

(YOUTH ONLY) Certificate of Completion from an approved Bowhunter Education course
Bow and arrows (no broadheads)
Dress for Oregon weather as if you are going hunting
Bring your own snacks, lunch, and bottled water
NOTE: Once you are registered on the Attendee roster for this event, check back to see any Release forms that are listed under an 'Attachments' section at the bottom of the page. While ODFW does provide paper release forms, it will save you time on event day if you print them and bring in signed copies.

- Student required to present a copy of Certificate of completion from an approved Bowhunter Education course at check in
- Once registered on the Attendee Roster, you should gain visibility to any associated Release Forms necessary for participation. All attendees are required to sign these forms and bring them to the event.
