Registration for: Waterfowl & Blind Mentor (Hunter Recruitment Program)

As a Waterfowl and Blind Mentor, you will demonstrate and teach participants how to have successful waterfowl hunting experiences while emphasizing the importance of blinds and ethical hunting practices. 

Teach the essential skills for waterfowl hunting, including blind construction and setup, waterfowl species identification, calling techniques, decoy placement, shotgun proficiency, and ethical hunting practices. Teach participants how to build, maintain, and conceal blinds effectively for waterfowl hunting. Educate participants about the characteristics, behaviors, migration patterns, habitat preferences, and vocalizations of waterfowl species commonly found in Oregon, such as ducks, geese, and swans. 

Demonstrate various waterfowl calls, including duck calls, goose calls, and whistles, and teach participants how to use them effectively to attract and communicate with waterfowl. Provide guidance on decoy spread setups, movement simulation, and creating realistic hunting scenarios. Instruct participants on safe firearm handling practices specific to waterfowl hunting, including proper shotgun selection, ammunition choice, shooting techniques, firearm maintenance, and safe shooting zones. Emphasize firearm safety protocols and compliance with hunting regulations. Teach participants how to maintain hunting blinds, including concealment upkeep, blind adjustments based on weather conditions, blind cleaning, and organization of hunting gear within blinds for efficient use during hunts.

  • Instruction: Teach and instruct people of all ages.
  • Event Support: Help manage registration and check-in, and conduct event set-up and tear-down of materials and equipment. 
  • Driving: Pick up and transport equipment when needed.
