Youth Pheasant Hunt
Youth Pheasant Hunts offer young hunters a safe, supportive, and fun opportunity to experience upland bird hunting before the general season opens. Designed for new and developing hunters, these events take place at select locations across Oregon where pen‑raised pheasants are released specifically for youth participants.
Hunters aged 17 and under can take part, and many locations provide loaner equipment, clay target warmups, and onsite guidance from ODFW staff and volunteer mentors. Most sites have a set schedule, check-in process, and field rotation to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Whether a youth is brand new to hunting or building on skills from previous years, these hunts offer a great way to learn safe firearm handling, practice upland game bird hunting techniques, field dressing game birds, and enjoy time outdoors with family and friends. No adult hunting is allowed during these events—adults must accompany youth as mentors or chaperones only.
These hunts are popular and often fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged. Please note, each hunter may only reserve one day. Those wishing to hunt a second day may hunt on a standby basis if reservations are underfilled.

To ensure everyone has a chance to attend, participants may not register for both days. If duplicate registrations are submitted, our staff will remove one to open that spot for someone else. Thank you for helping us make the event accessible to all!
