Hunter Safety Conventional Course

This is a complete and in‑person Hunter Safety Education course. Students will learn firearm safety, hunting ethics, and responsible behavior through classroom instruction and hands‑on field activities.

Topics:

• The five main firearm actions
• Safe loading and unloading with the correct ammunition
• Proper muzzle control and keeping fingers off the trigger
• Correct use of the safety mechanism
• The four main safety rules (MTAT: Muzzle, Trigger, Action, Target)

This course is a minimum of 12 hours, typically spread over 2–3 weeks with classes held twice per week. Some courses may include a live‑fire exercise. Students must attend all sessions and demonstrate safe skills, a positive attitude, and adequate knowledge in order to be certified.

Students who successfully complete all requirements will receive a temporary orange hunter safety card from the instructor. This card must be carried while hunting until the permanent card arrives by mail. Please ensure a valid mailing address is entered in your account profile so the permanent card can be delivered without delay.

Parent & Guardian Information

All students are required to have their parent or legal guardian complete, sign, and bring the required Participant Release Form to the course. This form must be submitted at check‑in before participation is permitted.
