Upland Hunting Workshop (Adults)
If you’ve ever wanted to experience the thrill of upland bird hunting, this two-day workshop for adults is the perfect way to get started! This hands-on event combines classroom education with a mentored hunt, giving participants the knowledge and confidence to head into the field on their own.
Day 1 focuses on essential upland bird hunting skills, including seasons, regulations, species identification, and an introduction to shotgun shooting for upland hunting. Participants will receive instruction on safe firearm handling and shooting techniques to prepare for the hunt.
Day 2 is a practical application pheasant hunt, where participants will head into the field with mentors to put their skills into action. The mentored hunt will cover:
- Pheasant hunting basics – Understanding bird behavior and hunting strategies.
- Dog handling and working with bird dogs – Learn how trained dogs assist in upland hunting.
- Field experience – A real-world hunting opportunity with the chance to harvest a bird.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a solid foundation in upland bird hunting and the confidence to continue on their own.

What To Bring
- Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear for field conditions.
- Personal shotgun (optional – loaners available).
- Eye and ear protection (provided if needed).
- Water, snacks and lunch.

- No hunting license is required to attend the first day.
- A valid hunting license and upland game bird validation is required for participation in the mentored hunt on day two.
